BRITT SMALL has risen above just creating his own sound to becoming a historic
enigma. From starring in Las Vegas to being the star of many patriotic events, VA hospitals, state veterans' homes and
care facilities throughout the country, Britt has been the veterans advocate on the grass roots and national levels since
the early 80's. In 1982, Britt's veterans' concerns surfaced, as he won the hearts of the nation when he began
singing to calm the angry crowd at the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC.
Since 1982, Britt Small has been on a journey with America's veterans, fighting
for their rights, the return of POWs, and VA benefits; a career choice made from the heart. Throughout this journey
Britt has worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between the generations of veterans by rekindling the spirit of pride and patriotism
in Americans from coast to coast.
Britt attended Florida State
University for three years, and then enlisted in the United States Army. After serving 18 months as a military policeman with
the 118th MP Co, (Abn), at Ft. Bragg, NC, Britt joined the 173rd Airborne Brigade(Separate) in South Vietnam. He served as
a military police investigator with the 173rd MP Platoon at LZ English from April to December 1970, and is a recipient of
the Purple Heart, The Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
Upon returning from Vietnam, Britt relocated to Northwest Missouri to be with his family. He graduated
from Northwest Missouri State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education. The following year
he became a full time professional entertainer. In 1997, Britt returned to NWMSU, to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree
in Mass Communications.
Britt was Commander of American
Legion Post 411 in Skidmore, Missouri for ten years before retiring the Post's Colors in 2007. Britt is a Life Member
of the American Legion, VFW, DAV, Military Order of the Purple Heart, AmVets, and the Midwest Chapter of the Society of the
173rd Airborne, and is a Life Member as well as having served as vice-chairman of the National Vietnam & Gulf War
Veterans Coalition in Washington, DC.
In 1982, Britt went
to the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans memorial in Washington, DC. During the ceremonies, a growing anger within the crowd
began to surface, followed by his band FESTIVAL (who retired in 2000 after 27 years on the road), Britt made his way through
the crowd of thousands to the apex of The Wall, and began singing "America The Beautiful" and "Amazing Grace",
calming the angered crowd. That evening, Britt was shown on the National news singing and holding Mrs. Beda Shafer (a 173rd
Gold Star Mother), in his arms. Born was Britt's hit song and music video "The Wall", which began Britt's
lifelong odyssey.
Britt performed at the dedications of the
Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Three Fighting Men Statue, the Women's Memorial, and the Korean War Memorial, making him
the only professional touring entertainer to perform at the dedication of all the national war memorials in the last half
of the 20th century.
On February 10, 1999, Britt Small was
recognized with a proclamation from the United States congress for "his personalized patriotism and heartfelt devotion
to veterans." BRITT SMALL is "the musical voice of America's veterans."
Years before America's September 11, 2001 tragedy,
Britt began bridging the gap of the generations and rekindling the flame of pride and patriotism. Through the power of music
and his commanding voice, Britt Small has been touching those in pain, spreading laughter, sunshine, and good old American
patriotism and love of country from coast to coast. Britt is sought after as special guest for many corporate and veteran
organizational meetings. He has also lent his voice to nationally distributed educational videos, voice-over, and announcement
projects.
SONS of the PIONEERS, Gary LeMaster:
"Britt, One of the most annoying things to me, being in the Music and Entertainment business for forty-three years, is
to go to a show, and have to endure listening to announcements by someone not qualified to do them, or with a voice that shouldn't
be heard by the public. I have been doing voice-overs and announcements for years, and have been doing the Sons Of The Pioneers
pre show for the last 12 years. I was looking for someone to redo our pre-show announcements for quite a while when I met
you and heard you speak. I liked the voice, but after seeing your show, I knew you would do a great job. As usual, I was right!
The announcements you made for the Sons Of The Pioneers were really great, and do enhance our presentation of our show. You
may use my personal recommendation for anyone interested in using Britt Small for announcements, voice-overs, commercials,
etc., as we are very happy with the work you did for us. Thanks Britt and we'll see you out there on the road."
American Pride Entertainment is proud to endorse BRITT SMALL because he is a man
that will not merely endure: He will prevail, not because he alone among man has an inexhaustible voice, but because
he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion, sacrifice and endurance. He is a true American Patriot. He is America's
best-kept secret.
